Effects of low temperature plasma tonsillectomy combined with adenoid ablation in treatment of children with snoring
Objective:To observe effects of low temperature plasma tonsillectomy combined with adenoid ablation in treatment of children with snoring. Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 86 children with snoring admitted to this hospital from June 2020 to June 2023.According to the random number table method, they were divided into control group and study group,43 cases in each group. The control group was treated with tonsillectomy combined with adenoidectomy, while the study group was treated with low temperature plasma tonsillectomy combined with adenoid ablation. The levels of operation-related indexes, the clinical efficacy, the preoperative and postoperative ventilation function indexes[oxygen desaturation index(ODI),apnea hypopnea index(AHI),lowest nocturnal oxygen saturation(LSaO2)]levels and the sleep quality[children's sleep habits questionnaire(CSHQ)]score before and after the surgery, and the incidence of complications were compared between the two groups. Results:The amount of bleeding in the study group was less than that in the control group, the operation time and the hospitalization time were shorter than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The total effective rate of treatment in the study group was 95.35%(41/43),which was higher than 81.40%(35/43)in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).1 month after the surgery, the levels of ODI and AHI in the two groups were lower than those before the surgery, and those in the study group were lower than those in the control group;the levels of LSaO2 in the two groups were higher than those before the surgery, and that in the study group was higher than that in the control group;and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).1 month after the surgery, the CSHQ scores of bedtime habits, sleep behavior, night waking, morning rising and daytime sleepiness in the two groups were lower than those before the surgery, those in the study group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Further,the incidence of complications in the study group was lower than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions:Low temperature plasma tonsil ablation combined with adenoid ablation in the treatment of the children with snoring can improve the total effective rate of treatment, improve the levels of ventilation function indexes and sleep quality scores, and reduce the levels of surgery-related indexes and the incidence of complications. Moreover,it is superior to tonsillectomy combined with adenoidectomy.
