Effects of Methylprednisolone combined with Azithromycin in treatment of children with mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia
Objective:To observe effects of Methylprednisolone combined with Azithromycin in treatment of children with mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia. Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 80 children with mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia admitted to this hospital from September 2021 to November 2023.According to the random number table method, they were divided into control group and study group,40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Azithromycin, while the study group was treated with Methylprednisolone on the basis of that of the control group. The clinical efficacy, the disappearance time of clinical symptoms(cough, lung shadow, fever, lung rale),the hospitalization time, the lung function indexes[maximum expiratory flow rate(PEF),forced expiratory volume in one second(FEV1),forced vital capacity(FVC)]before and after the treatment, and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results:The total effective rate of the study group was 97.50%(39/40),which was higher than 80.00%(32/40)of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The disappearance time of clinical symptoms such as pulmonary rales, fever, cough, lung shadow and the hospitalization time in the study group were shorter than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment, the levels of PEF,FEV1 and FVC in the two groups were higher than those before the treatment, those in the study group were higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).However,there was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusions:Methylprednisolone combined with Azithromycin in the treatment of the children with mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia can improve the total effective rate of treatment and the levels of lung function indexes, and shorten the disappearance time of clinical symptoms and the hospitalization time. Moreover,it is superior to simple Azithromycin treatment.
