Application effects of orthokeratology lens combined with prism orthographic training in children with intermittent exotropia and myopia
Objective:To observe application effects of orthokeratology lens combined with prism orthographic training in children with intermittent exotropia and myopia. Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 76 children with intermittent exotropia and myopia admitted to this hospital from May 2021 to May 2023.According to the random number table method, they were divided into control group and observation group,38 cases in each group. Both groups were treated with prism orthographic training. The control group was treated with frame glasses, while the observation group was treated with orthokeratology lenses. The ocular surface indexes(best corrected visual acuity, uncorrected visual acuity, diopter)levels, the strabismus degree, the external fusion range, and the quality of life[health survey summary(SF-36)]score were compared between the two groups before and after the treatment. Results:After the treatment, the best corrected visual acuity and the uncorrected visual acuity of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, the diopter was higher than that of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment, the 33 cm and 6 m strabismus degrees of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, the external fusion range was higher than that of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Further,after the treatment, the SF-36 scores of physiological function, mental health, emotional function, social function, physical pain, vitality, physiological function and general health in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions:Orthokeratology combined with prism orthographic training can improve the diopter, the external fusion range and the quality of life scores, improve the ocular surface index levels, and reduce the strabismus degrees in the children with intermittent exotropia and myopia. Moreover,it is superior to frame glasses combined with prism orthographic training.
