Effects of modified Niubang Ganju decoction combined with Amoxicillin and Clavulanate potassium for suspension in treatment of children with acute suppurative tonsillitis
Objective:To observe the effect of modified Niubang Ganju decoction combined with Amoxicillin and Clavulanate potassium for suspension in the treatment of children with acute suppurative tonsillitis(AST).Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 60 children with AST admitted to this hospital from June 2023 to May 2024.According to the random number table method,they were divided into study group and control group,30 cases in each group.The control group was treated with Amoxicillin and Clavulanate potassium for suspension,while the study group was treated with modified Niubang Ganju decoction on the basis of that of the control group.The clinical efficacy,the inflammatory indexes[white blood cell count(WBC),procalcitonin(PCT),C-reactive protein(CRP)]levels,the symptom disappearance time,and the hospitalization time were compared between the two groups.Results:The total effective rate of treatment in the study group was 100.00%,which was significantly higher than 80.00%in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment,the levels of WBC,PCT,CRP and other inflammatory indexes in the two groups were lower than those before the treatment,those in the study group were lower than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Further,the disappearance time of fever,purulent secretion,sore throat and other symptoms and the hospitalization time in the study group were shorter than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions:Modified Niubang Ganju decoction combined with Amoxicillin and Clavulanate potassium for suspension in the treatment of the AST children can improve the total effective rate of treatment,shorten the symptom disappearance time and the hospitalization time,and reduce the levels of inflammatory indexes.Moreover,it is superior to simple Amoxicillin and Clavulanate potassium for suspension treatment.
