Effects of Gancao Xiexin decoction combined with Mesalazine in treatment of patients with ulcerative colitis of large intestine damp-heat type
Objective:To observe effects of Gancao Xiexin decoction combined with Mesalazine in treatment of patients with ulcerative colitis of large intestine damp-heat type.Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 70 patients with ulcerative colitis of large intestine damp-heat type admitted to Pingdingshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from May 2021 to May 2023.According to the random number table method,they were divided into control group and study group,35 cases in each group.The control group was treated with Mesalazine,while the study group was treated with Gancao Xiexin decoction on the basis of that of the control group.Both groups were treated for 8 weeks.The clinical efficacy,the TCM syndrome scores,the number of intestinal flora,the levels of inflammatory indexes[interleukin(IL)-1β,IL-10,IL-6,tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)]before and after the treatment,and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.Results:The total effective rate of the study group was 97.14%(34/35),which was higher than 77.14%(27/35)of the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment,the scores of TCM syndromes such as main symptoms and secondary symptoms in the study group were lower than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment,the number of Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus in the study group was more than that in the control group,the number of Escherichia coli and Enterococcus was less than that in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment,the levels of TNF-α,IL-1β and IL-6 in the study group were lower than those in the control group,and the level of IL-10 was higher than that in the control group,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).However,there was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusions:Gancao Xiexin decoction combined with Mesalazine in the treatment of the patients with ulcerative colitis can improve the total effective rate of treatment,reduce the TCM syndrome scores,regulate the number of intestinal flora,and improve the levels of inflammatory indexes.Moreover,it is superior to simple Mesalazine treatment.
