Effects of Guben Huatan decoction combined with conventional Western medicine in treatment of patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
Objective:To observe effects of Guben Huatan decoction combined with conventional Western medicine in treatment of patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Methods:The clinical data of 60 patients with stable COPD admitted to this hospital from 2021 to 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. According to different treatment methods, they were divided into observation group and control group,30 cases in each group. The control group was treated with conventional Western medicine (Budesonide+Ipratropium bromide),while the observation group was treated with Guben Huatan decoction on the basis of that of the control group. Both groups were treated continuously for 3 months. The clinical efficacy, the lung function indexes[forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1),forced vital capacity (FVC),FEV1/FVC]levels,the dyspnea symptoms[modified British medical research council dyspnea index (mMRC),chronic obstructive pulmonary disease assessment test (CAT)]scores, the 6 min walking test (6MWT) distance, and the T cell subsets indexes (CD4+,CD8+and CD4+/CD8+) levels before and after the treatment, and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results:The total effective rate of the observation group was 90.00% (27/30),which was higher than 66.67% (20/30) of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). After the treatment, the levels of FEV1,FVC and FEV1/FVC in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). After the treatment, the scores of mMRC and CAT in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). After the treatment, the 6MWT distance of the observation group was greater than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). After the treatment, the levels of CD4+and CD4+/CD8+in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, the level of CD8+was lower than that in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). No obvious adverse reactions occurred in the two groups during the treatment. Conclusions:Guben Huatan decoction combined with conventional Western medicine in the treatment of the stable COPD patients can improve the total effective rate of treatment, the levels of lung function indexes, reduce the scores of dyspnea symptoms, increase the 6MWT distance, and improve the levels of T cell subsets. Moreover,it is superior to simple conventional Western medicine treatment.
