Effects of Qizhi Weitong granules combined with conventional Western medicine in treatment of patients with irritable bowel syndrome of liver qi stagnation type
Objective:To observe effects of Qizhi Weitong granules combined with conventional Western medicine in treatment of patients with irritable bowel syndrome of liver qi stagnation type. Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 80 patients with irritable bowel syndrome of liver qi stagnation type admitted to this hospital from January 2020 to October 2023. They were divided into control group and observation group by using the random number table method,40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with conventional Western medicine,while the observation group was treated with Qizhi Weitong granules on the basis of that of the control group. The clinical efficacy,the TCM syndrome score,the inflammatory index[white blood cell count (WBC),C-reactive protein (CRP)]levels,the severity of disease[irritable bowel syndrome severity scale (IBS-SSS)]score and the quality of life[irritable bowel syndrome-quality of life scale (IBS-QOL)]score before and after the treatment,and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results:The total effective rate of the observation group was 95.00％ (38/40),which was higher than 75.00％ (30/40) of the control group,and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). After the treatment,the TCM syndrome score of the observation group was lower than that of the control group,and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). After the treatment,the levels of CRP and WBC in the observation group were lower than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). After the treatment,the scores of IBS-SSS and IBS-QOL in the observation group were lower than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). However,there was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusions:On the basis of conventional Western medicine treatment,Qizhi Weitong granules can improve the total effective rate of treatment and reduce the TCM syndrome scores,the inflammatory index levels,the IBS-SSS scores and the IBS-QOL scores in the patients with irritable bowel syndrome of liver qi stagnation type. Moreover,it is superior to simple conventional Western medicine treatment.
