Effects of Huayu Lijin acupuncture therapy combined with Tongluo Qutong ointment in treatment of patients with lumbar disc herniation
Objective:To observe effects of Huayu Lijin acupuncture therapy combined with Tongluo Qutong ointment in treatment of patients with lumbar disc herniation. Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 90 patients with lumbar disc herniation admitted to this hospital from June 2021 to June 2023. According to the random number table method,they were divided into observation group and control group,45 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Tongluo Qutong ointment,while the observation group was treated with Huayu Lijin acupuncture on the basis of that of the control group. The total effective rate of treatment,the lumbar Japanese Orthopaedic Associationscores (JOA) score,the Oswestry dysfunction index (ODI) score,the serum pain mediators (prostaglandin,substance P) levelss,and the serum inflammatory factors[C-reactive protein (CRP),interleukin-6 (IL-6)]level were compared between the two groups. Results:The total effective rate of the observation group was 93.33％,which was significantly higher than 77.78％ of the control group,and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). After the treatment,the lumbar JOA scores of the two groups were higher than those before the treatment,and that in the observation group was higher than that in the control group;the ODI score and the levels of serum pain mediators such as prostaglandin and substance P,and serum inflammatory factors such as CRP and IL-6 in the two groups were lower than those before the treatment,and those in the observation group were lower than those in the control group;and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusions:Huayu Lijin acupuncture combined with Tongluo Qutong ointment can improve the total effective rate and the lumbar JOA scores,and reduce the ODI scores,serum pain mediator levels and inflammatory factor levels in the patients with lumbar disc herniation. Moreover,it is superior to simple Tongluo Qutong ointment application.
