Correlations between serum 25-(OH)D3,BMP-7,S100A8 levels and poor prognosis in children with neonatal respiratory distress syndrome
Objective:To analyze correlations between serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D3[25-(OH)D3],bone morphogenetic protein-7 (BMP-7),S100 calcium binding protein A8 (S100A8) levels and poor prognosis in children with neonatal respiratory distress syndrome. Methods:A total of 117 children with neonatal respiratory distress syndrome admitted to this hospital from April 2021 to July 2023 were selected as the study group, and 117 healthy newborns during the same period were selected as the control group. The levels of serum 25-(OH)D3,BMP-7 and S100 A8 were compared between the two groups as well as the children with different severity grades and different prognosis. Spearman correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlations between the serum 25-(OH)D3,BMP-7,S100A8 levels and poor prognosis in the children with neonatal respiratory distress syndrome. Results:The level of serum 25-(OH)D3 in the study group was lower than that in the control group, the levels of serum BMP-7 and S100A8 were higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The serum 25-(OH)D3 level of the children with grade Ⅳ was lower than those of the children with grade Ⅲ,Ⅱ and Ⅰ,and the higher the severity of the disease was,the lower the serum 25-(OH)D3 level was;the levels of serum BMP-7 and S100 A8 in the children with grade Ⅳ were higher than those in the children with grade Ⅲ,Ⅱ and Ⅰ,and the higher the severity of the disease was,the higher the levels of serum BMP-7 and S100 A8 were;and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The level of serum 25-(OH)D3 in the children with poor prognosis was lower than that in the children with good prognosis, the levels of serum BMP-7 and S100 A8 were higher than those in the children with good prognosis, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The serum 25-(OH)D3 level was negatively correlated with poor prognosis in the children with neonatal respiratory distress syndrome (r<0,P<0.05),while the serum BMP-7 and S100 A8 levels were positively correlated with poor prognosis (r>0,P<0.05). Conclusions:The serum 25-(OH) D3 level is negatively correlated with poor prognosis in the children with neonatal respiratory distress syndrome, while the serum BMP-7 and S100A8 levels are positively correlated with poor prognosis.
