Comparison of effects of iRoot SP paste and AH-plus paste root canal filling in treatment of patients with cracked teeth complicated with pulpitis
Objective:To compare effects of iRoot SP paste and AH-plus paste root canal filling in treatment of patients with cracked teeth complicated with pulpitis. Methods:The clinical data of 150 patients with cracked teeth complicated with pulpitis admitted to this hospital from September 2021 to January 2024 were retrospectively analyzed. According to the different pastes used, they were divided into observation group and control group,75 cases in each group. Both groups were treated with root canal filling. The control group was treated with AH-plus paste, while the observation group was treated with iRoot SP paste. The clinical efficacy, the unit root canal filling time, the pain[visual analogue scale (VAS)]scores, the chewing related indicators (bite force, masticatory efficiency) levels before and after the treatment, and the incidence of complications were compared between the two groups. Results:There was no significant difference in the total effective rate between the two groups (P>0.05). The unit root canal filling time in the observation group was shorter than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). At 1 and 7 days after the treatment, the VAS scores of the two groups were lower than those before the treatment, those in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). After the treatment, the levels bite force and masticatory efficiency of the two groups were higher than those before the treatment, those in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of complications between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusions:iRoot SP paste root canal filling in the treatment of the patients with cracked teeth and pulpitis can shorten the unit root canal filling time, reduce the pain scores, and improve the levels of chewing related indicators. Moreover,it is superior to AH-plus paste root canal filling.
