Effects of Jinshui Liujun decoction combined with conventional Western medicine in treatment of patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
Objective:To observe effects of Jinshui Liujun decoction combined with conventional Western medicine in treatment of patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 88 patients with stable COPD admitted to the hospital from February 2021 to February 2024. According to the random number table method, they were divided into observation group (42 cases) and control group (46 cases). The control group was treated with conventional Western medicine, while the observation group was treated with Jinshui Liujun decoction on the basis of that of the control group. The clinical efficacy, the levels of inflammatory factors[C-reactive protein (CRP),tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α),procalcitonin (PCT)]and lung function indexes[forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1),forced vital capacity (FVC)],the clinical symptoms[daily sputum volume, modified British medical research council respiratory questionnaire (mMRC),COPD assessment test (CAT)],the TCM syndrome score before and after the treatment, and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results:The total effective rate of the observation group was 95.24% (40/42),which was higher than 80.43% (37/46) of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). After the treatment, the levels of CRP,PCT and TNF-α in the two groups were lower than those before the treatment, those in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The levels of FEV1 and FVC in the two groups were higher than those before the treatment, those in the observation group was higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The daily sputum volume of the two groups were less than those before the treatment, and that in the observation group was less than that in the control group;the mMRC and CAT scores of the two groups were lower than those before the treatment, and those in the observation group were lower than those in the control group;and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The scores of TCM syndromes such as chest tightness and shortness of breath, cough and phlegm, soreness and weakness of waist and knees in the two groups were lower than those before the treatment, those in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). However, there was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusions:Jinshui Liujun decoction combined with conventional Western medicine in the treatment of the stable COPD patients can improve the total effective rate of treatment and the levels of lung function indexes, improve the clinical symptom, and reduce the levels of inflammatory factors and the TCM syndrome scores. Moreover,it is superior to simple conventional Western medicine treatment.
