Impact of Internet on health investment of the rural residents:An analysis of intermediary effect based on information acquisition
Objective To explore the impact of the Internet on the health investment of rural residents,and to give full play to the role of the Internet in promoting the health of rural residents.Methods Based on the 2018 CFPS data,OLS regression and intermediary effect model were used to empirically examine the impact of the Internet usage on rural residents'health investment,and the intermediary effect of information acquisition between the Internet usage and rural residents'health investment.Results Internet usage had a significant positive im-pact on health investment of rural residents,including medical expenditure,health care expenditure and exercise frequency.It broadened rural residents'access to information,and was one of the mechanisms of the impact of the Internet usage on health investment of rural residents.Conclusions It is necessary to promote Internet plus medi-cal and health care in rural areas to enhance the capacity of health services there,to improve the ability of rural residents to make use of Internet information by targeting at different groups,and to guide the construction of healthy villages with the help of the Internet for improving the efficiency of health investment of rural residents.
