A qualitative study on the utilization status of essential public health services for residents in Chengdu City
Objective To explore the utilization status of essential public health services of Chengdu residents and the existing problems of the program.Methods The purposive sampling method was adopted to se-lect 21 community residents for interview,and Colaizzi's method was used to analyze the data.Results The uti-lization status of essential public health services by Chengdu residents was summarized into two aspects:various but incomprehensive channels for knowledge and lack of initiative in service utilization.The factors influencing the utilization were identified as health perception,lack of relevant information,population mobility,and distrust of primary services.The existing problems included imperfect information construction,unsatisfactory service quali-ty,and relatively simple form of services.Conclusions The utilization status of essential public health services of Chengdu residents is not ideal,and the service utilization is affected by many factors.We should further strengthen the publicity and the information construction,improve the residents'health concept,and enhance the service ca-pacity of grassroots healthcare institutions.
