Countermeasures for the predicament of long-term care services for the disabled elderly in rural areas
With the deepening of rural aging and the increase in the disabled elderly,long-term care for the disabled elderly in rural areas of China is facing a great challenge. This paper analyzes and summarizes the di-lemmas through a systematic analysis of long-term care for the disabled elderly in rural areas in China, which in-clude gradual weakening of family care, high cost of care, insufficient number of eldercare resources, and monot-onous content of care services. It then proposes suggestions including clarifying family support obligations to en-courage children to take responsibility for eldercare, strengthening social security in rural areas to accelerate the construction of a long-term care insurance system, speeding up the construction of rural nursing institutions to pro-mote the deployment of nursing staff to rural areas, and improving the quality of nursing services to provide all-round care services,so that the level of long-term care for the elderly with disabilities in rural areas can be raised, and the basic right of life and health of the elderly in rural areas can be guaranteed.
