Family doctors'capacity and incentive mechanisms:A case study of rural areas of Shandong Province
Objective To explore the capacity and incentive mechanisms of family doctor contracted serv-ices in rural areas of Shandong Province,and to provide policy suggestions for its stable development in rural are-as.Methods A multi-stage stratified random sampling method was adopted to conduct a questionnaire survey a-mong family doctors in rural areas of Shandong Province.Results Among 271 family doctors surveyed,there were statistically significant differences in education level,professional title,years of practice,qualification certifi-cates,and relevant training between family doctors from village clinics and health centers.There were 71.59%family doctors thought that their income did not match their workload.Regarding income satisfaction,more than half of them were dissatisfied with their current income.Conclusions The government should formulate reasona-ble performance assessments for income and ways of resource allocation,improve income levels of family doctors while expanding their career development prospects,incentivise family doctors to improve their service quality and efficiency,thus ensuring the sustainable and stable development of family doctor contracted services.
