Effect of Storage Time on Seeds Germination and Seedling Characteris-tics of Passiflora suberosa L.
Propagating material is the basis for further research and development of a plant resource.Passiflo-ra suberosa L.seeds stored at room temperature for 1 month,2 months,4 months and 5 months after harves-ting were used as test materials. The germination time, germination rate, germination potential, transverse and vertical diameter of cotyledon, transverse and vertical diameter of first true leaf and seedling biomass were measured and compared to determine the seeds germination and seedling characteristics of P.suberosa.The re-sults showed that under room temperature, seeds stored for 1 month,2 months,4 months, and 5 months be-gan to germinate on the 11th,12.3th,13th,and 14.7th day after sowing, respectively, with germination vig-or of 22.22%,17.17%,12.22%,and 10.00%,and germination rate of 96.97%,88.46%,54.44%,and 21.11%,respectively.Biomass of these 5 seedlings was 0.24 g,0.17 g,0.16 g,and 0.14 g,with vertical di-ameter of cotyledon at 1.33 cm,1.26 cm,1.18 cm,and 1.13 cm,the transverse diameter at 0.87 cm,0.83 cm,0.78 cm,and 0.75 cm,the vertical diameter of first leaf at 2.78,2.54 cm,2.48 cm,and 2.39 cm,and the transverse diameter at 2.73 cm,2.48 cm,2.33 cm,and 2.25 cm,respectively. The results indicated that the seeds stored for 1 month showed the fastest germination, the highest germination potential and germination rate. The size and biomass of cotyledon and first true leaf of germinated seedlings were also the greatest. With the extension of storage time, the germination rate and germination potential of the seeds decreased continu-ously,and seedling growth index also decreased.
