Effects of different rootstocks on the growth and fruit quality of Youhou persimmon(PCNA)were investigated to select suitable rootstock-scion combinations in the low altitude area of Guangxi Zhuang Autono-mous Region.Youhou persimmon was grafted onto three kinds of rootstocks such as Date plum(Diospyros lo-tus L.),Silvestris persimmon(D.kaki var.Silvestris)and Gongcheng Shuishi(D.kaki Thunb.).The tree development,shoots composition,fruit quality and coloring of each rootstock-scion combination were meas-ured.The results showed that the rootstock-scion combinations of Youhou/Gongcheng Shuishi and Youhou/Silvestris persimmon had vigorous growth potential,and the proportions of medium-long shoots(20-40 cm)and long shoots(＞40 cm)were 27.24％and 47.42％,and 10.82％and 14.43％,respectively.On the con-trary,the rootstock-scion combination of Youhou/Date plum presented weaker growth vigor,and the propor-tion of medium and short shoots(0-20 cm)accounted for 79.40％.The average single fruit weight and vita-min C content of Youhou/Gongcheng Shuishi rootstock-scion combination were significantly higher than those of Youhou/Silvestris persimmon and Youhou/Date plum.The average single fruit weight(179.36 g),solu-ble solid content(16.84％)and fruit coloring of Youhou/Gongcheng Shuishi rootstock-scion combination were significantly better than those of the other combinations.When planting Youhou PCNA persimmon in low altitude area of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region,Gongcheng Shuishi was a better rootstock,followed by Silvestris persimmon and Date plum.
