Introduction performance and cultivation techniques of Zaojia bayberry in Chongqing
Zaojia bayberry is a new early-maturing bud mutation variety bred by the Horticultural Research Institute of Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences from Biqizhong bayberry orchard in Lanxi,Zhejiang Province.In 2014,the Fruit Research Institute of Chongqing Academy of Agricultural Sciences introduced it to the local area for cultiva-tion experiment.The results showed that Zaojia bayberry was medium-vigorous,with purple-dark mature fruit,aver-age single fruit weight of 11.8 g,soluble solids of 13.2%,titratable acid of 0.98%,and edible rate of 93.22%.It matures in late May in the medium and low altitude areas of Chongqing,about 7 days earlier than that of Biqizhong bayberry,Zaojia bayberry showed the characteristics of early maturity,disease resistance,high temperature resist-ance,and appropriate sweetness and sourness,and is suitable for planting in Chongqing bayberry planting areas.
