Introduction performance and dwarfing cultivation techniques of a new apple cultivar Fuxing in eastern Henan Province
Fuxing is a new late-ripening apple cultivar selected by the apple breeding team of Qingdao Agricultural University.In the spring of 2019,the Shangqiu Comprehensive Experimental Station of the National Apple Industrial Technology System introduced Fuxing seedlings from Qingdao Agricultural University for planting.The characteristics of growth and fruiting,the disease resistance and so on were observed and analyzed.The management techniques of dwarfing cultivation were summarized.In eastern Henan Province,the fruit of Fuxing is nearly round in shape,with smooth and fully bright red surface.The average fruit weight is 260.1 g and the fruit shape index is 0.91 with total soluble solid content of 17.5%.The fruit firmness after peeling is 5.85 kg·cm-2.The fruit flesh is light yellow,juicy,hard and crispy,with sweet and sour taste,and high quality.The harvest time of this variety is mid-late October,with good storage,and could be kept on-tree for a long time without flesh mealy.The trees are highly resistant to apple Alternaria alternata f.sp.mali and apple Glomerella leaf spot,and easy to manage with good adaptability.It is suitable to be planted in eastern Henan Province,and has good prospects for development.
