Preliminary report on introduction of late ripening lychee in hot area of Guizhou and its development prospect
In order to promote the cultivation of lychee in Guizhou Province, three late-maturing lychee varie-ties,namely Dadingxiang,Ziniangxi, and Wuheli(seedless lychee)were introduced to Lefeng Village in Lian-gtian Town,Zhenning County,in North Panjiang River basin,by Guizhou Institute of Pomological Sciences in 2014.The results showed that the germination period, flowering period and fruit maturation period of these three varieties was in early February, early April and early July, respectively. The phenological period of the three varieties was different by 3-5 days.Based on the data of field observation of 9 years, these three varieties showed strong adaptability, stable flowering and fruiting characteristics, and excellent fruit quality. Moreover, the maturation period of lychee in this area was between the maturations of the main producing area of South China and Sichuan Province, which could fill the market gap and have regional and ecological advantages.
