Introduction performance of five cultivars of Actinidia arguta in Southeast Guizhou
Five excellent Actinidia arguta cultivars,including Hard Red,Scarlet September,Ananasnaya,Ken's Red and Geneva,were introduced for trial planting in southeast Guizhou,and their phenological period and shoot characteristics were observed,in order to provide basis for enriching and optimizing the structure of fruit trees,and promoting A.arguta cultivation in southeast Guizhou and selecting the maternal-plant for breeding excellent cultivars.The results showed that all these five introduced varieties grew and blossomed normally.Hard Red matured in early August,Scarlet September and Ken's Red matured in mid-August,Ananasnaya and Geneva matured in late August.The budding rate of the five cultivars ranged from 57.01％to 82.57％,and the branching ability was 34.17％-76.67％.All these five varieties grew well and the typical characteristics of the fruit were well maintained.They could be promoted moderately in Kaili and its surrounding areas in southeast Guizhou,also used as the maternal-plant for breeding excellent cultivars of A.arguta.
