Research on the influence of agricultural mechanization on farmers'income:Empirical analysis based on county panel data in Zhejiang Province
Agricultural mechanization is an important symbol and fundamental support for agricultural modernization, which can increase farmers'income by improving agricultural production efficiency, the quantity and quality of agricultural product supply, promoting the transfer of agricultural labor, and so on.This paper constructs a county-level data model based on the panel data of 81 counties in Zhejiang Province from 2012 to 2020,and authentic proof tests the impact of agricultural mechanization on farmers'income in the province and 26 mountainous counties. The research results indicate that there is a positive correlation between the improvement of mechanization level and the increase of farmers'income.Within the province, every 0.01 increase in mechanization rate will drive the disposable income of rural residents in the province to increase by 0.025%,and the results are significant. However, the development of agricultural mechanization in 26 counties in mountainous areas has not yet achieved the effect of increasing income. The improvement of mechanization level can significantly improve labor productivity and promote labor transfer, effectively promoting farmers'income increase throughout the province, but it has not yet shown a significant income increase effect in 26 mountainous counties. Therefore, the 26 counties in mountainous areas still need to improve the operating conditions of agricultural machinery, promote the use of agricultural equipment in all fields, standardize all aspects of agricultural production, and provide full coverage of socialized services to fill the gaps in the development of agricultural mechanization,so as to enable high-quality development of the mechanization industry, promote agricultural efficiency, and increase farmers'income.
