Mechanism and empirical analysis of the role of science and technology innovation in driving rural revitalization:Based on the perspective of innovation diffusion
Quantitative evaluation of the impact effect and mechanism of science and technology innovation on rural revitalization can provide theoretical references and empirical evidence for comprehensively promoting rural revitalization and accelerating regional coordinated development. The article constructs the evaluation index system of science and technology innovation and rural revitalization, combines the entropy weight method to measure the development level of both in 30 Chinese provinces from 2010 to 2020,and uses the fixed-effects model and spatial Durbin model to empirically test the promotion effect and spatial spillover effect of science and technology innovation on rural revitalization,as well as the existence of the role mechanism of knowledge innovation, technological innovation and product innovation. Some key results show that the national average level of science and technology innovation and rural revitalization has steadily improved, and there are significant disparities in the level of science and technology innovation and rural revitalization between regions,as well as between provinces. The level of science and technology innovation increases by 1 unit on average to promote the level of rural revitalization by 0.372.The coefficients of science and technology innovation level are 0.157,0.233 and 0.189 at 5% level significant under the adjacency, geographical distance and nested weight matrix, respectively.Meanwhile, under the four spatial weight matrices, the coefficients of the spatial lag term of science and technology innovation level are 0.142,0.901,0.925 and 1.510 respectively, and all of them pass the significance level test.Science and technology innovation contributes to the development of rural revitalization in the province and has a positive spatial spillover effect on the improvement of the level of rural revitalization in neighboring provinces.Science and technology innovation can act on rural revitalization development in the form of knowledge, technology and product innovation. The spatial spillover effects of technological innovation and product innovation are significant under geographical distance, economic distance and nested weight matrix.Product innovation shows significant spatial spillover effects only under the economic distance and nested weight matrix.
