The kynurenine pathway and acquired premature ejaculation
Premature ejaculation is a common male sexual dysfunction.It seriously affects the life quality of patient and the relationship with his spouse,and in the long run,it may lead to serious personal consequences such as distress,anxiety,and stress.The proportion of patients with acquired premature ejaculation is relatively high among premature ejaculation patients,and they are more willing to seek or plan to seek treatment.Existing researches have demonstrated that 5-hydroxytryptophan synthesis is important in the development of premature ejaculation.The kynurenine pathway,which is one of the tryptophan metabolic pathways,may be associated with the development of premature ejaculation.Currently,the relationship between this pathway and premature ejaculation remains largely uncharacterized.This article summarizes and reviews the relationship between the kynurenine pathway and acquired premature ejaculation.
