Advances in the study of the effects of varicocele on male fertility
Varicocele,a disorder in which blood flow is impaired due to dysfunction or absence of venous valves,is common in men and can affect testicular structure and function, thus impairing male fertility. This article focuses on the effects of varicocele on the function of Sertoli cell, including the damage of Sertoli cell caused by proinflammatory cytokine and inflammatory responses, and the damage of Sertoli cell caused by oxidative stress. The article also explores the potential role of exosomes in the future of varicocele therapy and suggests that human amniotic epithelial cells ( hAECs ) and bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell-derived exosomes may become novel therapeutic strategies.
