Research progress on the role of oxidative stress in oligoasthenozoospermia and its traditional Chinese medicine intervention
Ample evidence has suggested that oxidative stress plays a significant role in the occurrence and development of Oligoasthenozoospermia( OAS ) .The commonly used drugs in clinical practice to improve sperm quality include carnitine,vitamin E,clomiphene,tamoxifen,and others,but they often lack specificity.Traditional Chinese Medicine ( TCM ) has achieved good clinical effects and prospects in the treatment of OAS,and many single herbs,herbal extracts,herbal formulations,and Chinese patent medicines can effectively target oxidative stress to improve OAS.This paper provides a brief review of the regulatory role of oxidative stress in OAS and research progress on TCM in targeting oxidative stress to treat oligoasthenozoospermia in recent years,aiming to provide theoretical support for the clinical prevention and treatment of OAS with TCM.
