To promote the development of agricultural engineering in China,Zou Bingwen proposed the Agricultural Engineering International Student Program(AEISP)in 1944.The program selected ten stu-dents each from agricultural and engineering disciplines to study at two universities in the United States,using the cross-disciplinary training model to learn agrarian engineering.These scholars laid the founda-tion for agricultural engineering education and scientific research in China upon their return.They promot-ed the development of agricultural mechanization,becoming pioneers in agrarian engineering in new Chi-na.Based on the review of the history of the program and the analysis of its effects,the paper points out the ideological and practical significance of the program's talent cultivation concept of"learning agricul-ture to cram engineering and learning engineering to cram agriculture"for the cultivation of talents and the construction of agricultural engineering disciplines in the context of new agricultural and engineering fields.
