The high-quality development of China's energy sector in the new era poses new requirements for the country's energy supply and demand pattern.Understanding the regional pattern and dynamic evolution of energy supply and demand plays a crucial foundational role in the current context.Based on the principles of spatiotemporal coordination for national energy supply security, this paper focuses on the production and consumption of primary energy, using the energy self-sufficiency rate as an entry point for data description and factor analysis. It reveals the supply and demand pattern and evolutionary trends of primary energy in different regions.China's energy production is mainly concentrated in the Northwest and North China, while consumption is concentrated in East China and North China. The energy self-sufficiency rates in South China and East China are relatively lower, showing a distinct counter-distribution characteristic between energy resources and load demand, indicating an issue of mismatch between energy supply and demand. It is urgently needed to plan regional coordination strategies for energy, tailored to the different areas'energy reserves, economic development, technological levels, and geographical locations.
