Optimization of Haematococcus pluvialis medium producing astaxanthin by response surface methodology
The concentration range of sodium acetate, potassium nitrate and potassium dihydrogen phosphate content in Haematococcus pluvialis medium for astaxanthin production was determined by single factor experiments. The results showed that the concentration of potassium dihydrogen phosphate had little effect on astaxanthin production. While the sodium acetate and potassium nitrate concentration significantly affect astaxanthin yield.Response surface methodology was employed to optimize the two factors for astaxanthin production. The optimal medium composition for astaxanthin production was sodium acetate 1.460 5 g/L and potassium nitrate 0.008 4 g/L.This astaxanthin yield of the optimized medium increased from 0.977 4 mg/L to 10.908 mg/L,which increased 9.16 times.
