The Effect of Research Stressors on Doctoral Students'Academic Passion:A Moderated Mediation Model
In face of the increasingly fierce academic competition, doctoral students'research stress is increasing.Academic passion is the internal motivation to maintain the unswerving pursuit and perseverance in scientific research for doc-toral students under the scientific research stressors.By surveying 538 doctoral students, this study builds a moderated mediation model to explore the effects of different types of research stressors on doctoral students'academic passion and its underlying mechanisms. The results show that challenge research stressors posi-tively affected doctoral students'academic passion, while hindrance research stressors negatively affected doctoral students'academic passion.Moreover,re-search role identity mediated the relationship between challenge-hindrance research stressors and academic passion.Further, the mediating effect of research role identity between hindrance research stressors and academic passion was mod-erated by inclusive mentoring style. Therefore, the development of personalized incentives and support mechanisms, the creation of an organized scientific research training system, and the creation of a relaxed and autonomous research atmosphere are important ways to help PhD students relieve research pressure and strengthen their academic passion.
