Features,Influencing Factors and Development Trends of Mental Health Problems among University Teachers
Since the expansion of higher education,various social changes have had a continuous impact on the psychological development of university teachers,and the trend of psychological change among teachers is unknown.To explore the baseline of university teachers'mental health problems,this study drew on the cross-temporal method to meta-analyze studies that used the SCL-90 scale to measure anxiety,depression,somatization,obsessive-compulsive,para-noia,and hostility among university teachers during the period from 1999 to 2018.The results found that ①there was an overall trend of increasing mental health problems among university teachers,with anxiety increasing up to a medium effect size(d=0.56).The trend of mental health deterioration was rel-atively fast in three categories of teachers:male,general college,and western re-gion.② Political,economic,and social factors such as number of schools,number of teachers,enrollment,total dependency ratio,and number of health care institutions were more significant predictors of mental health problems.③It was predicted that university teachers'mental health problems would show a trend of smooth fluctuation in the future.Overall,university teachers'mental health problems are closely related to social development,and the improvement of teachers'mental health should be"from the point to the surface".It should be policy-oriented,seizing key issues at critical points in time to curb the upward trend of teachers'mental health problems.Formation of different category lines that are organized to improve the efficacy of mental health interventions for teach-ers.The quality of development in all aspects of"politics,economy,society and technology"is improved to build a teacher mental health safety net.
