Based on Humboldt's thought,university scientific research holds value in terms of freedom,humanity,and the country,and self-cultivation is the bridge and intermediary for university scientific research to have multiple values.Among this,self-cultivation is built on the foundation of freedom,which requires university scientific research to develop freedom and regard freedom as their in-herent attribute and value pursuit;Self-cultivation denotes the cultivation whose content is about humanity or the cultivation that regard humanity as the object of its action.This requires university scientific research to pay attention to the devel-opment and improvement of humanity,and to promote university scientific research to act on the process and way of the cultivation of humanity;Self-culti-vation contributes to the endogenous development of a country,which requires u-niversity scientific research to pay attention to and serve the progress of the coun-try,and strive to gain the understanding,support,and guarantee of the national power.To further promote the realization of the value of university scientific re-search,we should attach more importance to the guiding implications of Humboldt's"ideological prototype"of university scientific research.
