'Longzi 221'is a new variety of purple sweet potato with fresh eating and processing,which was bred by opening pollination and natural hybridization with'Taiwanzishu'as the female parent.It has a semi-erect architecture with medium length vine,and the average single plant tubers number is 5.2.Its tuber is of spindle shape with purple peel and purple flesh,the average proportion of large potato is 65％,and the average dry matter rate and starch content is respectively 35.04％and 24.12％.It is resistant to Fusarium wilt disease,and highly susceptible to sweet potato blast.The yield of fresh tuber is about 30 t·hm-2,and dried tuber is about 10.5 t·hm-2.It is suitable for spring,summer and autumn potato planting in Fujian Provinces not affected by sweet potato blast.
