The later-Le Dynasty was an important period for the transformation of lacquering techniques in Vietnam.During this period,lacquering wood sculpture of Buddha was especially popular.On the one hand,Buddhism was deeply rooted in Vietnam,but on the other hand,it was more influenced by Chinese lacquering techniques at that time.Chen,a native from Pingwang Village,Shangfu County,Changxin City Vietnam,was sent to China's Hunan region,as an envoy in the late Le Dynasty,and brought back the local painting skills,and then was honored by generations of painters as"lacquer painting pioneers",which promoted the development of lacquer painting skills in Vietnam.
