Clinical Efficacy of MEBO Combined with Hospital-made Chinese Herbal Decoction in the Postoperative Wounds of Milligan-Morgan Hemorrhoidectomy for Mixed Hemorrhoids
Clinical Efficacy of MEBO Combined with Hospital-made Chinese Herbal Decoction in the Postoperative Wounds of Milligan-Morgan Hemorrhoidectomy for Mixed Hemorrhoids
Objective To study the clinical efficacy of MEBO combined with hospital-made Chinese herbal decoc-tion in the postoperative wounds of Milligan-Morgan hemorrhoidectomy for mixed hemorrhoids.Methods 90 patients with mixed hemorrhoids admitted to The Affiliated Hospital of TCM of Nanyang Medical College from March 2020 to March 2023 were enrolled as research objects and divided,based on the treatments they received,into study group(n=45)and control group(n=45).After Milligan-Morgan hemorrhoidectomy for mixed hemorrhoids,the wounds of patients in the study group were treated with MEBO plus fumigation and sitz bath with hospital-made Chinese herbal decoction,whereas the wounds of patients in the control group were treated with Vaseline gauze plus fumigation and sitz bath with hospital-made Chinese herbal decoction.Postoperative wound pain,perianal edema,anal distention,and wound healing time were compared between the two groups.Results Respectively on day 3 and 7 after surgery,the wound pain scores of patients were both obviously lower in the study group compared with the control group(t=2.467 and 2.427,P=0.016 and 0.017).On day 7 after surgery,the scores of perianal edema and anal distention of patients were markedly lower in the study group(t=2.482 and 4.052,P = 0.015 and 0.001).The wound healing time of patients were significantly shorter in the study group compared with the control group(t = 2.292,P = 0.024).Conclusion In the treatment of postoperative wounds of Milligan-Morgan hemorrhoidectomy for mixed hemorrhoids,MEBO combined with hospital-made Chinese herbal decoction can effectively relieve wound pain of patients,improve their relevant clinical symptoms including perianal edema and anal distention,and speed up wound healing,and the clinical efficacy is definite.
