Investigation Report on Effect of Large-area Release Trichogramma to Control Sugarcane Borers in Guangxi in 2013
To define influence and economic benefits of large-area release Trichogramma to control sugarcane borers in Guangxi, and optimize field survey method of sugarcane borers, percentage of injured plants, percentage of bored internodes, the average number of wormholes or tunnels per plant, sucrose yield and cane yield of the released area and the control area were compared. The results showed that percentage of injured plants and the average number of wormholes or tunnels per plant of the released area were more significantly lower than those of the control area (P<0.05), and sucrose yield were significantly increasing by 1.89%compared with control area (P<0.05). Economic benefit from release Trichogramma was about 350 million yuan per 667 hm2. There were great differences in percentage of injured plants, percentage of bored internodes and the average number of wormholes or tunnels per plant between the released area and control area. The investigation showed that large-area release Trichogramma had a remarkable effect to control sugarcane borers and would bring great economic benefits. Tunnels investigation methods, which was reported the first time in China, was superior to wormholes investigation methods.
