Evaluation and management of urinary tract in-jury during reconstructive pelvic surgery
One of the serious side effects of gyneco-logical surgery is urinary tract injury.Patients with pelvic organ prolapse have altered pelvic floor ana-tomical position,which increases the risk of urinary tract injury during reconstructive pelvic surgery.Therefore,it is critical to recognize and promptly treat urinary tract injury during reconstructive pelvic surgery.This article analyzes and discusses how to detect uri-nary tract injuries in time for timely management during reconstructive pelvic surgery,thereby reducing complications.It also discusses the causes,symptoms,assessment,and management of urinary tract(urethra,bladder,and ureter)injuries during reconstructive pelvic surgery.Urinary tract injuries during recon-structive pelvic surgery can be completely corrected when identified and managed early.On the other hand,if urinary tract injuries are not identified during the procedure,there is a poor postoperative prognosis of various severity,so close postoperative observation and management is also crucial.
