Placental function monitoring and prevention of serious pregnant complications
The placenta is the extracorporeal life support system for the fetus.Placenta formation begins with embryo implantation and early pregnancy, its morphology and function continue to improve with the pregnancy.Placental dysfunction is associated with reduced uteroplacental perfusion and inadequate placental energy supply, which may result in compli-cations such as preeclampsia(PE),fetal growth re-striction(FGR),and intrauterine distress.Evaluation of placental function, monitoring of intrauterine fetal status and timely termination of pregnancy can reduce the adverse pregnancy outcomes and improve long-term fetal prognosis.
