Risk factors and management for pregnancy with Wernicke encephalopathy
Pregnancy with Wernicke encephalopathy(WE)is an acute encephalopathy syndrome caused by vitamin B1 deficiency,which is more common in pregnant women with hyperemesis gravidarum.The typical clinical manifestations are encephalopathy,eye movement disorder and cerebellar ataxia.Cranial MRI is important for early diagnosis of WE.Treatments in-clude supplementation of adequate amount of vitamin B,and correction of hyperemesis gravidarum,and pregnancy should be terminated if necessary.Vitamin B,supplementation during pregnancy is the key to preventing WE.
