Application Value of Bromhexine Hydrochloride Combined with Azithromycin in Children with Mycoplasma Pneumoniae Pneumonia
Objective To investigate the clinical effect of bromhexine hydrochloride and azithromycin in the treatment Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia in children. Methods A total of 100 children with Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia admitted to Xuzhou Maternal and Child Health Hospital from November 2021 to November 2023 were selected as the study subjects, and were randomly divided into 50 cases each in the control group and the observation group. The control group adopted azithromycin treatment, and the observation group adopted azithromycin combined with bromhexine hydrochloride treatment. The symptom disappearance time, occurrence of adverse reactions, and changes in the levels of inflammatory factors[procalcitonin(PCT)and C-reactive protein(CRP)]before and after treatment were compared between two groups. Results The time for fever disappearance[(3.01±1.21)d],the time for lung rales disappearance[(4.11±0.68)d],and the time for cough disappearance[(3.75±0.85)d]in the observation group were significantly shorter than those in the control group(P<0.05).Before treatment, the serum PCT and CRP levels were not significantly different between two groups(P>0.05).After treatment, the PCT of the observation group was[(0.15±0.10)ng/mL],and the CRP level was[(8.46±1.08)mg/L],which were significantly lower than that of the control group(P<0.05).No serious adverse reactions occurred during treatment in both groups. Conclusion The addition of bromhexine hydrochloride on the basis of azithromycin treatment can shorten the course of the disease, reduce the inflammatory reaction of the body, and promote the recovery of children, and does not increase the incidence of adverse reactions, which is worthy of clinical reference and popularization.
