Chemical Composition and Color Presentation of Celadon Excavatd from the Yingou Site
In order to reveal the raw material characteristics and color characteristics of celadon from the Tang Dynasties to the Yuan Dynasties unearthed at the Yingou site, the microstructure, chemical composition and glaze color of celadon body glaze were studied in this paper using optical microscope,X-ray fluorescence spectrometer, colorimeter and ultraviolet-visible-near-infrared spectrophotometer. The research findings are as follows:(1)The content of the main oxides SiO2 and Al2O3 in the Jin Dynasty celadon body differs significantly from other dynasties. From the Tang Dynasty to the Jin Dynasty, the content of the color elements TiO2 and Fe2O3 in the bodies gradually decreased, making the body color transition from gray-black to gray-white.However,the iron content in the Yuan Dynasty bodies is relatively high, while the titanium content is relatively low, making the body color yellowish.(2)The contents of K2O,Al2O3 and SiO2 in the green glazes of the Song Dynasty were all at a relatively high level, and the high-temperature viscosity of the glaze was high, and the bubbles in the glaze were dense and uneven in size. The CaO content in the glazes ofthe Jin and Yuan dynasties was relatively high, and the glaze surface was often cracked. The content of the main color element Fe2O3 in Tang Dynasty celadon is low,and the content in Song Dynasty and Yuan Dynasty is high.(3)The glaze color of celadon from the Five Dynasties to the Yuan Dynasty changed from cold blue-green to warm yellow-green,which was obviously related to the changes in the valence and coordination of Fe in the glaze.
