Effect of Firing Temperatures on Strips in Yellow Hare's Fur Glaze of Jian Wares
The experiment produces a blue-and-yellow striped hare's fur glaze using Jianyang's local raw materials, including red clay,Jian'ou stone, and plant ash.It investigates the effect and mechanism of firing temperatures on the yellow hare's fur glaze of Jian wares by XRD,Raman,SEM,EDS and other testing methods. The findings indicate that hare's fur glazes have a restricted firing temperature range. At lower temperatures between 1270 ℃ and 1290 ℃,the glaze mainly contains separated-crystal structures;the Fe2O3 crystals are 150 nm,and they cannot move to form glaze spots due to increased viscosity. With the firing temperature increasing to 1310℃,strips began to appear and the viscosity decreased gradually, completing the transition from separated to crystals. The base glaze's crystal nuclei gradually migrate into the strips as the amount of Fe2O3 crystals increases, and its size is 300 nm,as a result, the glaze gradually develops dense yellow stripes above 1350 ℃.At 1330 ℃,the hare's fur glaze paste viscosity is moderate, the base glaze is slightly bluish, and the shape of the strips is slender and thread-like,well defined, and more effective.
