The Application of"Han Purple"in Painted Pottery from the Qin to Han Dynasties and its Influence on the Western Regions
"Han purple"is a unique artificial material made of copper barium silicate that was used during the Warring States period of the Han Dynasty in China.Its use in painted pottery shows both strong regional characteristics and a unified philosophical ideology.Based on archaeological data relating to the use of"Han purple"in the painted pottery of Qin and Han tombs,this paper compares its use in different regions of Shaanxi,Henan,Shandong and Jiangsu province,as well as its commonalities and individuality,speculating on the various reasons for its concentration in the north and its conceptual use of color.It also analyzes its relationship with"Egyptian blue"and its influence on the Western Regions.
