A Study on the Evolution of the Shape of Porcelain Ewers in Jingdezhen Imperial Kiln during the Ming Dynasty
This article aims to provide a clearer historical context by examining the changes in the shape of porcelain ewers during the Ming dynasty from the Jingdezhen Imperial Kiln.By comparing the morphological differences of porcelain ewers from different periods at the Imperial Kiln,this dissertation first explores the changes in the shape of porcelain ewers during the Ming dynasty,then demonstrates the impact of cultural exchange,particularly the spread and integration of Islamic culture in China,on the shape design of the ewer and discusses the evolution of the ewer's functional orientation with the historical background.Through these researches,the article concludes with the patterns of change in the shape of porcelain ewers during the Ming Dynasty,proves the influence of foreign cultures on the shape and design of Chinese ceramic ewers,and provides prospects and assumptions for the future direction of ceramic design.
