Design and Experiment of a Variable Angle CNC Ceramic Rolling Forming Machine
Ceramic rolling forming is a kind of manufacturing process utilizing a composite motion of rolling and pressing on the clay material by a ceramic rolling forming machine.It is a crucial process in the formation of daily ceramic products and holds significant influence on the quality of porcelain products.Addressing the issues of fixed roller head angles and the uneven arrangement of clay particles in traditional ceramic rolling forming machines,this study proposes a design method for a kind of variable angle CNC ceramic rolling forming machine by analyzing the working principle of rolling forming and the possible quality problems of mud during rolling forming.The fixed angle rolling of the traditional ceramic rolling forming machine's roller head is improved by a new rolling process.The improved process involves a rolling head that is initially pressed vertically.Then,the end of the roller head is taken as the center point,causing the roller head shaft to swing and press with a deformation angle.This study aims to address the issue of uneven density in billets after rolling using traditional rolling forming machines.The goal is to achieve smoother mud discharge,uniform force distribution throughout the billet,and reduced sintering deformation.The research focuses on typical cover bowl porcelain blanks and conducts rolling forming experiments using both variable angle swing and fixed angle methods.The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified through a comparative analysis of the quality after firing.The results indicate that compared to traditional fixed angle rolling,the A-shaped cover bowl sintered by the variable angle swing rolling forming machine exhibited an increase of 1.12%in height sintering shrinkage and 0.73%in diameter sintering shrinkage.Similarly,the B-shaped cover bowl showed an increase of 0.11%in height sintering shrinkage and 0.06%in diameter sintering shrinkage.This indicates that the pressure on the bottom and sides of the mud material after rolling by the variable angle rolling machine is uniform,and the density and uniformity of the mud material are better;The yield of A type and B type billets has increased by 44%and 40%respectively,resulting in an improvement in the quality of formed products and a significant increase in yield.Therefore,the proposed method has important theoretical significance and engineering value for improving the quality of ceramic rolling forming process,reducing product deformation,as well as automation and flexibility.
