Influences of Molten Salt Types on the Synthesis and Morphology of Magnesium Aluminum Spinel Porous Sheets
Using aluminum wire, magnesium powder, absolute ethyl alcohol as raw materials, and Na3VO4,Li2MoO4,Na2SO4,Na2MoO4 and NaCl as molten salt, respectively, magnesium aluminum spinel porous sheets were prepared by the molten salt assisted non-hydrolytic sol-gel method. The effect of different molten salt types on the synthesis and morphology of magnesium aluminum spinel was characterized by XRD,FE-SEM,TEM,BET,and other testing methods. The formation mechanism of magnesium aluminum spinel sheets was also explored. Results showed that only in the Na2MoO4 and NaCl molten salts, magnesium aluminum spinel porous sheets with lengths ranging from 140 to 160 nm and 120 to 180 nm were grown, respectively. The specific surface area of the magnesium aluminum spinel porous sheets obtained in Na2MoO4 molten salt was 73 m2/g.TEM and N2 adsorption-desorption isotherm tests indicated the presence of distinct mesoporous structures in the samples. This unique structure is beneficial for improving the material's specific surface area and increasing the exposure area of the active sites, which makes it have promising applications in the catalyst support and adsorption fields.
