Research on the Development and Current Situation of Nanyang Ancient Ceramics-Based on the Investigation of Surrounding Museums and Ancient Kiln Site
For the purpose of analyzing the development and research status of Nanyang ancient ceramics, ancient ceramic shards from the Deng kiln site in Nanyang and nearby ceramic raw materials were collected to explore the color and raw material characteristics.A statistical analysis was conducted on the distribution places of ceramics in Nanyang Museum and Xichuan Museum to explore the development and spread path of ancient ceramics in Nanyang. The results indicate that before the Han dynasty,Xichuan was the primary region for pottery production, while other areas served as secondary regions. The pottery types transitioned from diversified characteristics to unified characteristics. After the Tang dynasty, ceramics were mainly produced from Deng kiln in Neixiang, with other kilns such as Nanzhao kiln as secondary sources. The quality of ceramics was uneven, but the types were abundant. The collected celadon shards fluctuated in a*values between 4.85 and-5.82,with b*values mostly greater than 0.The overall glaze color was yellowish.Raw materials of types A,B and D belong to low-temperature flux raw materials, with type D materials capable of producing black glaze independently.Type C materials are rich in iron and can be combined with types A and B for celadon firing. There are three main transportation routes for Deng kiln porcelains, namely, the line from Neixiang Tangyan River to Danjiang, the line from Neixiang Tangyan River to Diao River, and the ancient road from Neixiang to Nanzhao to Lushan,Xuchang,Kaifeng, and other locations.
