Study on Periodization Characteristics and Dating of Chenghua Imperial Kiln Porcelain in the Ming Dynasty
This study focuses on the Chenghua imperial kiln porcelain in the Ming Dynasty,providing a detailed analysis of its production and distribution at the imperial kiln site. It provides a comprehensive analysis of the periodization characteristics of Chenghua imperial kiln porcelain,covering aspects such as body,glaze,shape,decoration,inscriptions,and firing techniques. Historical literature is reviewed to discuss the dating of different periods. The research reveals that early Chenghua imperial kiln porcelain dates from the fourth to the seventh year of Chenghua (1468—1471),mid-period pieces from the eighth to the sixteenth year (1472—1480),and late-period items were produced from the seventeenth to the twenty-third year of Chenghua (1481—1487).
