Preparation of Lightweight Porous Ceramics Using Polishing Waste as Raw Material
This paper explored the feasibility of using architectural ceramic polishing waste as raw material to prepare lightweight porous ceramics. The effect of sintering temperature,SiC content, and insulation time on the properties of lightweight porous ceramics was investigated.Experimental results show that with increasing sintering temperature,SiC content, and holding time, the average pore size and overall collapse of the porous ceramics significantly increase. The flexural strength of lightweight po-rous ceramics is negatively correlated with the average pore size.To achieve uniform pore size and no significant defects in lightweight porous ceramics,SiC addition is of 3wt.%,a sintering temperature is of 1200 ℃,and an insulation time is of 30 minutes, lightweight porous ceramics with an average pore size of 1.11 mm,a bulk density of 0.49 g/cm3,and a flexural strength of 2.56 MPa were prepared.
