Preparation of Anorthite Based Coating and its Properties of Reinforcing Building Ceramics
The increase in the strength of building ceramics is one of the key factors to achieve thinner and lighter production of tiles. In this work, using calcite, calcined talc, kaolin and quartz as the main raw materials, the coatings reinforced building tiles with calcium feldspar as the main crystalline phase and prepared. The phase composition and the coefficient of thermal expansion of the coatings can be controlled by changing the amount of spodumene in the coating. At the same time, the effect of the proc-essing parameters, such as coating thickness, milling time, holding time,on the strengthening of building tiles was studied. The results show that the prestressed coating with low thermal expansion coefficient and good interfacial bonding between coating and substrate can be obtained.when the spodumene content in the coating is 20 wt.%,the coating thickness is 86 μm,the ball-milling time of the coating material is 3 h,and the firing temperature is 1 190 ℃ for 30 min,the difference between the ex-pansion coefficient of the coating and the substrate is 3.17× 10-6 ℃-1,and the strength of the ceramic composite sample reaches the maximum value of 99.8 MPa,which is 50.5%higher than that of the uncoated sample(66.3 MPa).
